first stop of my photo adventure today: the shack

so there is this half fallen shack on the side of the road that i drive by nearly every day, i have always wanted to stop and poke around but i never did untill today, and im glad i did. i think they turned out well. i used photoshop to bump the saturation and contrast. but thats about it. but i can say they're good all i want, its what you think that really matters....follow the links to each (shift click to open in new window)

It's a nice set of photos, though I liked some more than others as the comments indicate. One thing I would have done is straightened a few of the images. It is easy to do, and pros seem to consider it lazy not to, unless there is a specific reason.

i actually did think about doing it, and it probably was just laziness, but i dont plan on selling them or consider myself even near pro level. so ill just let them stay in their slightly off kilter amateur form lol. thanks for all the tips though, i will consider all of them in the future. we need more people like you on gather to actually LOOK at the photos, not just view them

Well, I'm not always honest, often I'm just bland with my comments, but you seemed like a good candidate for a fun discussion. I posted a few photos on the Pentax forum, which is pretty professional (no, not the Penthouse forum!) and the lack of a straight horizon was a major critical remark that was made kindly but firmly. With old buildings, there isn't necessarily a straight edge in site, but having some kind of idea about what to make your horizontal and vertical seems to be pretty important for the viewer. Peace!

ya I agree pretty neat photographs.
The building really does not look that old? I loved the lock photo!!
I think that was the best creative shot!
I love old buildings/structures such as this!
It really looks like someone garage. Is there reminiscences of a home there? Even flowers blooming and tree's that should not be there?
Which makes me wonder what had happened on the property?
