University of New Mexico defender Elizabeth Lambert apparently plays the role of "goon" on her team. Lambert exhibits some shockingly violent behavior during this game against Brigham Young.
In this 90-second highlight, Lambert executes an elbow to the back, punch to the face, kick to the stomach, kick of the ball directly into an opposing player's face (for which she earned a yellow card), and perhaps most painful-looking, a hard hair-pull. This is ridiculous behavior for any college athlete, let alone a women's soccer player.
Sure, some of her play is just physicality that can happen in any soccer game. But she clearly crossed the line with these actions, and this video is becoming a web sensation as a result. Perhaps she was trying to gain more publicity for the un-ranked New Mexico. Either way, she ought to face some discipline for this bizarrely violent behavior.
