I'm right there with you girl, recently divorced and on my own, me and my thirteen year old. It is hard, but hang in there.

I've been unemployed since April - age isn't on my side either, grrrr! Wish me luck, I interviewed yesterday for a server position & the guy says he'll let me know for sure tomorrow mornin'! I really need this - yesterday!

My daughter is an MA (medical assistant). She worked for 3 physicians. One is going out on his own, so the office made some cutbacks. She was low man on the totem pole and got the axe. So, she is looking.

I'm retired, but was also a stay at home mom for quite a few years. When I went back to work, I made up a Functional Resume. Besides my professional experience and credentials, I listed skills that I had acquired doing volunteer work and from hobbies and classes. I had organized and worked on a lot of social events and fundraisers, so those skills were put to work at my new job at the Community Senior Citizens' Center.

Mothers make wonderfully efficient managers, as we moms know. List everything that makes you good at what you do....driving, cooking, decorating, organizing. You've got lots of talents, so list them all.

*raises hand* Me. Though I am looking specifically for a job in childcare. I called one that I had sent my info/application to and she just said I needed to know the date of my most recent TB test. I'm waiting for the dr. to send that information, as I sure as heck don't remember the date.

In project management I have always run the risk of being unemployed between projects. Usually when it happens, I take the first week off as vacation and then I get back at finding my next employer / my next project. Until 2009, I have never experienced a layoff longer than seven weeks. I have now been unemployed seven MONTHS. And I look every single day except Sundays and every other Friday.

Originally TEXAS didn't offer the federal extension on benefits so I've been without income since mid-September. But now that has changed and there's something in the works that may give me a few more months of benefits beginning in December. I sure hope so.

As for taking care of the bills etc, I am currently interviewing for a potential "Bonnie" to join me on a cross-country bank-robbing run. - "Clyde"

We know the banks have money cuz the gov gave it to them.

I lost a job about 6 years ago and have been in a temporary situation since, but I've come to realize that all jobs are temporary. I'm glad to see you've had interviews and hope they went well!
