It's a good thing I don't believe in either Jesus or Satan (only capitalizing them to show I do know how to use a shift key) as all that circling only makes me dizzy.

I am getting ready to leave Gather.  It will take me a bit to remove all my stuff from here and close out my groups.  I hadn't realized how much I had posted over the years.  I also am a judge for a contest in The Surreal Circus, so I will not leave until that ends.

I have had some fun times here as well as some not so fun times.  I have made some wonderful friends and met many talented people.  Unfortunately the quality of the site has been deteriorating and I'm tired of a lot of the hatred and lies I see told on here.  The defamation of character against my friends and I is unconscionable as is the fact that Gather allows it to happen despite the violation of their own TOS.

I am not a perfect individual.  I never claimed to be.  I have never purposefully set out to hurt anyone but will defend my friends when they are attacked repeatedly by people who know nothing about them.

I have spent too much time here and my back can't take sitting at the computer that much, so it's better if I close out and walk away.

This ARTRAT is ready to leave this ship and sail for sunnier shores.

Wow CC! I didn't realize this was going on but you're the second person in two days that I hear this sort of stuff from. What is going on around here? I am so sorry that you and your friends have been subjected to this sort of abuse.

I really wish that you wouldn't leave as you will be another in a long list of very talented people to leave this site. *shakes head*

I hope that you will keep me on your mailing list as I am still interested in acquiring some of your work.

That's sad to see you leave. Maybe just take a break for a while. You may change your mind later.

I don't really know what's been going on and all the hatred because I wasn't in on any of that, but I know it's not fun to see friends being attacked.

I do know that I loved that hat you made.

monica, IF and it's a big if, i ever do decide to come back here, it will only to be to say hi to a few people i don't have contact with outside of here and then run off again.

besides, i could use the extra energy that i spend here on art and hats.

thank you lisa. i've been here for a long time. it's just that the reasons i kept coming back seem to be dwindling rapidly along with my ability to function, so i have to scale back my computer usage as well.

I will say this, though: there have been many Gather Refugee groups before, and most people fall out of them after a time. Ultimately, those who are elsewhere are elsewhere and those who are here are here. We know where to find each other, there's occasional contact, but the community of friends does not exist in the same way as it did while we were at the same place.

And when you remove your content, you remove all the comments people left on it--which is ironic, because one unique feature of Gather is how much of the valuable content is in the comments.

I can think of a group that will certainly miss CC's paintings. It's one of the few groups that functions as groups were intended to function.

I'm lukewarm on Gather. I post at times, but that is only when I get into an odd mood. I need to find another primary site for my random stuff.

Gather is a hard habit to completely break, but they are making it easier...
