Your brand is what people associate with your products or services, and part of establishing a brand has to do with the products or services themselves. If you consistently offer good quality items, then over time people will associate your brand with quality. The other part of establishing your brand is determined by what you tell people about yourself. If you project a certain image either through your business card printing or poster printing pieces, you will influence the way people think about your business.
Step 1: Decide What Kind of Image You Want to Project
The first step to establishing your brand is to decide what you want your image to be. You can determine this by thinking about what kind of products or services you offer. For instance, if you have an accounting firm, you probably want your brand to be associated with reliability. On the other hand, if you own an electronics store, you might want people to think you are cutting edge. For realms of business that don't suggest a specific kind of image, you could decide based on your own personality.
Step 2: Research Other Brands in Your Market
The purpose in researching other brands is to make your own brand unique. You want your brand to stand out from all the other ones out there. Notice what good attributes they identify with themselves and think about the characteristics you could associate with your brand that are a little different from the other brands. When you are doing research, look at all kinds of marketing materials: magazine ads, commercials, brochure printing designs, and signs.
Step 3: Create a Unique Identifier
Come up with something that people can easily remember. Something that instantly identifies your brand. Some examples are the Nike check mark, the Macintosh apple, and the word Dell with the funky e. It could be your logo, a catch phrase, or some kind of graphic. This is where you brainstorm and get creative. When you create your marketing materials, from brochure printing pieces to magazine ads, they should all contain this identifier.
Step 4: Create Your Logo
Once you have your unique identifier, create a logo that is in keeping with it. Your logo could be the identifier itself. If that's the case, then you just need to come up with a catch phrase that fits the personality of your identifier. Then, when you do your business card or brochure printing or any other corporate materials, your logo, catchphrase, and identifier should all be on the cover.
Step 5: Give Your Brand Lots of Exposure
People have to see something at least twelve times before they remember it, so if you want to establish your brand, you need to repeat the same key pieces over and over. Put your logo, catchphrase, and identifier on your labels, signs, and all marketing materials. This way, consumers will instantly recognize your products and materials when they see your memorable brand.
