Winter Has Arrived in Maine

I got up from the computer and walked by the window, looked out and from the street light I could see that horrid white stuff fluttering to the ground. We had snow flurries in the a.m. but it melted, as soon as it landed on the ground. Not so, this time it is staying and my Jeep is fully covered with snow.

I don't plan on going out in the morning. Hopefully, it will be gone by the time I head out in the afternoon. I hate driving the beginning of snow season. I get so nervous ....I drive like a little o' lady (no offense to any little ol' ladies). I fear my Jeep will slide into someone when I go to stop. I can't believe that I used to drive in any kind of weather just 5 years ago. I don't know if it is my age or what.

But I dislike driving any place to far from home in the winter, because if I go to far, I might be out and we get an unexpected snow storm. So, my husband drives if we have to go any distance. I guess I'm fortunate since I live in the city and the road aren't to bad and the traffic is above 35 in and around where I live.

Have you had snow, yet? When did the first snow arrive where you live?

It snowed all day here on October 29th, that was our first snow of the season!

No snow here. It was sixty degrees here, rainy and windy.

I lived in Limestone, Maine back in 1991 for 10 months at the Air Force Base. I think it snowed the whole time I was there.

I'd rather be where you are with the warmer weather. Between my hubby, parents and my kids....I won't be leaving Maine anytime soon. I can't live without them!

No snow here yet. I'm in WV so it won't be long. We don't get as much here as you I'm sure, but it's more than I grew up with in Georgia.

Whenever we talk about Christmas, my son (almost 3) says it's not Christmas yet, because there's no snow!

our first snow was the first week in October this year...
2nd coolest October on record (120/130 years) for this area......

We haven't seen snow in VA, and it's hard to say when we will. Last year, we saw flakes, but the first of march, we got hit with a blizzard that kept the city out of commission for days. Virginian's aren't use to snow. I hate driving in it, and am so thankful that we don't get alot. I drive 40 miles one way and it's the worse 40 miles I ever drive when there is ice and snow out there.
We are suppose to get our first hard freeze tonight, then it goes into the 60's tomorrow an dup to 70 on Sunday.

Last winter we had a blzzard. Wouldn't you know I had to go to work that overnight shift. The 15 min. drive turned into a nightmare, thankfully I was able to see the taillights of the plow truck in front of me. I was going the high speed of less than 10 mph. I put my signal light on be the exit and the plow truck went on the same exit and followed me to my work. When I got there he stopped and got out. I was still shaking because a couple times I couldn't see at all. He said, "You all set?". I wanted to hug him!

I have always wanted to go to Maine. Someday I will. It snowed here in West Virginia too. I hate winter more each year.

The snow scenes in Maine are beautiful. I love going up to Sugarloaf, USA, ski resort, area because the drive up there seeing all the snow covered mountains are so breathtakingly beautiful.
