The City of Lakes was built by Maharana Udai Singhji Mewar as a shifting of his capita from Chittor. When a saint told him (while he was hunting one day in the jungle) that fortune will favor him and his family, if he builds his palace here. - The City Palace (1559) - The first monument constructed by Maharana Udai Singhji as his official residence. A mythological story goes behind its construction near a temple.
- The Bagore Ki Haveli – This was built in the 18th century as a royal guest house. Today, it is converted into a museum during the day and in the evenings it holds cultural programs.
- Rope Way – This modern rope way is a fun ride up to the temple. The aerial view of the city is amazing from the top.
- Karni Mata Mandir – This is a Devi temple on top of Lake Pichola, which is accessible by the ropeway. Snacks and drinks are available at the nearby café.
- Lake Pichola – Simply standing at the back of the City Palace, this famous lake gets its name as, Lake Pichola. It is beautiful with many famous monuments beside it.
- Doodh Taliaya – This famous ‘Talaiya’ was a sacred place wherein the kings served milk to the Gods every morning. It’s close to Lake Pichola.
- Nathdwara temple – This holy pilgrimage of Lord Krishna is 48 Kms northeast of Udaipur, on the right banks of the river Banas. - Fateh Sagar Lake – This Lake exists to the north of Lake Pichola. It has a small island which has been made into a park by the Rajasthan government.
