Grey's Anatomy Season 6 Episode 8 [Video]

Grey's Anatomy is now eight episodes into its sixth season, and this season seems to only get stronger as time goes on. We've seen the merger, the fight between Derek and Richard, we've seen Izzie leave Alex, and we lost George. Yes, some things could have been handled differently, but this is still one of the stronger seasons for this series in the last couple. Tonight's episode is titled Invest In Love, and its focused on Arizona it seems. She is the birthday girl, and she is leading the staff through her home away from home - pediatrics. She is introducing us to her patients, the ones that still believe in magic and fairy dust. One boy seems to have a special relationship with her, and when his parents ask for a meeting with Webber and the hospital, they all think something is wrong. Far from it. They want to donate $25 million to the hospital. Something that shocks all of them, including Arizona. Happy birthday to her. Of course, Callie didn't even know that it is Arizona's birthday that week.

This week in pediatrics also shows us the smallest victims - the infants. These babies are so tiny and fighting for their lives. There is also a ten year old fighting for his life, and a teen girl that falls off of a roof while high on mushrooms, which we find out later on. The ten year old boy at the center this seems to have reached the end of his road. No more can be done, and the family practically threatens to take their donation back. She doesn't want to perform another surgery, but Webber talks her into trying because apparently in her hands it can be done. She ends up agreeing. Yang also upsets Hunt with taking the initiative on a tricky procedure. They end up arguing, and he threatens to report her to Webber which makes her cocky. Hunt and Yang continue to fight and Arizona blows up at Callie over her not being there after the boy's surgery.

Arizona is called back to the hospital and has to take him back into surgery cause he has gone into septic shock. This leads him to die on the table, and this proves her initial instinct about the surgery right. She won't even tell his parents he died because she knows she just killed their son. That task is left to Webber and the other big wig at the hospital. She does finally talk to the parents though after first going home to find a surprise birthday party that she doesn't stay for her. She goes with the parents to see their little boy, and by the end of it, they decide to still give the hospital the donation because of what Arizona tried to do for their son.

Other plots surrounding this episode show just how well Alex is with a baby. He spends practically two days holding a baby to help it live. This earns laughs and some admiration as well. Looks like Alex might have a future in pediatrics. Derek and Webber are still not talking, and Arizona loves Callie. It also seems one of the new doctors has a crush on Yang, and he makes his play for her in this episode. One she almost fars for with the state of her and hunt. This episode really struck a chord with me with the ten year old little boy and his story bringing tears to my eyes in the final moments of the episode. This series used to do that constantly, but it hadn't done it in awhile. It looks like things won't get easier next week. We finally see the return of Izzie and Meredith returns to the hospital.
