This is not my idea. I got it from another group that I am in. I loved the idea though and wanted to share it with my frugal Gather friends. I know each of us are going more frugal this year and this will be great!
Homemade Christmas Game
Supplies Needed:
Red or Green plastic tablecloth from Dollar Tree or similar store
Straight Edge (the side of a cardboard box will do)
White Acrylic Paint
1" Paint Brush (or whatever size you have - just make the lines about an inch)
Christmas Cards
Black Permanent Marker
The Holy Bible (mostly questions from Matthew and Luke)
Measure off about two feet on each side and draw a white line across the tablecloth. Draw other straight lines to make about two feet square blocks to form a track like a board game. In the middle of the tablecloth, paint a star or an angle to indicate where to place the question cards.
This games works like board games; however, instead of plastic markers moved by results of dice or a spinner, the kids move around the square by answering questions correctly.
Use Christmas cards - write the question on one side and the answer inside. For very young children, use yes and no questions. Have a few bad luck cards that require the child to go back a space. The child moves forward two spaces for each correct answer and does not move for an incorrect answer.
