LEGOs might be a fun hands-on building toy, but when it comes to communicating which piece you're looking for, they can be a real drag.
Each piece does have a corresponding name, like "4-stud by 2-stud" and "Plate 1 x 2 W.1 Knob." But saying, "Dad, could you please pass the "Turn Plate 2 x 2, Upper Part" is kind of a mouthful.
Giles Turnbull, a father and LEGO enthusiast, has come up with his own family nomenclature -- actually 4 different versions, one for each of his four children (Barney, Raimi, Max, and Jem), to make the constant LEGO construction that goes on in his house easier.
