This morning, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) joined the AARP and the AMA and announced support for the Affordable Health Care for America Act saying:
The House bill takes a number of steps to improve health care for cancer patients and their families by refocusing the system to emphasize prevention, ending the practice of denying coverage because of pre-existing conditions, limiting the cost burden on families by providing care that covers more and costs less and emphasizing patients’ quality of life.
They join the following groups representing millions of Americans in support of the House legislation to reduce health care costs, protect and increase consumers’ choices, and guarantee access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans:

The AARP has become a pretty effective arm of the Dem party the last few years and the AMA backs anyone who will allow it to continue it's control of the cartelization of medicine.

Hmmm. I wonder which plan is best. Not nearly good enough, but a good start.
The healthcare insurance system in place now is just as screwy as what is now being delivered up to us as so-called reform. None of it is good enough. Not even what we have now.
The "doughnut hole" refers to a costly gap in the Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage plan. The plan currently covers up to $2,700 per year in prescription drug payments, then stops. Coverage does not begin again until the recipient’s drug costs exceed $6,100 annually, thus leaving the recipient responsible for paying all drug costs between $2,700 and $6,100.
This gap is placing a crushing burden on many older Americans who live on fixed incomes and can't afford thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses. The gap in coverage drives many seniors to resort to the potentially life-threatening option of taking only half of their medication thus reducing the drugs’ effectiveness.
You might not appreciate that if you are young and not on Medicare, but it is a big benefit for seniors.
