I had a major panic attack today while trying to get an MRI and had to ask to be taken out of the machine.
Since last week, I've been having some problems with my shoulder and finally had an MRI scheduled today to see what is going on. I wasn't at all scared or apprehensive about getting it done, and was actually in a good mood right up until they pushed me inside the tube.
What happened was they had a clamp on one side of the 'bed' to hold my shoulder in place, and since I'm not a small person this forced me to sort of scrunch up to one side of the bed. When they pushed me up inside, I had to lay my right arm over my stomach because it was so tight. I was cramped and very uncomfortable.
My heart rate immediately shot up and I found myself taking deep breaths and feeling like I was getting no air. I even tried to close my eyes and concentrate and I felt like I was going to pass out.
Long story short, I have rescheduled an open MRI for next week and that shouldn't be any trouble. What a crazy experience!
