I was just sitting here and thinking about some of the things we used to do when I was younger and decided they were worth sharing to be either frugal or just simple or back to basics. Hope you learn something from them.
- Left over biscuits are great to shine your shoes. We'd break the biscuit apart and use the soft insides to shine our shoes. It really worked!
- When we had a bad cut, we had a jar of coal oil or kerosene and would stick our finger we had cut or hand into it and let it soak a short while and it really drew the pain out of the cut.
- Recycle those return envelopes that comes in junk mail by taking them apart and turning them wrong side out and then you have a brand new envelope.
- Buy all the same color of socks or knee highs and then when one got a hole in it you could throw it away but still use the other one because they were all the same.
- And pantyhose...if we got a runner on one leg, we'd cut that leg out below the belly(pant part) and save it until we got a runner in another one and do the same and then wear both pieces. It sure gave a good belly support with the two pant tops. LOL but it worked!
- We put our extra panty hose, hose, and knee-hi's in the freezer. They lasted longer that way when you wore them.
I hope you enjoyed these and maybe they were helpful to you.
