sure Mitch didn’t give up. The bond grew as the two men let their barriers down. He may have lost a leg but he had gained a brother and perhaps another father. Shel’s dad had accepted Mitch and his brother bobby as the son’s of his late ex-wife. He didn’t hold it against them and had given them a second chance at a new life. No, it wasn’t anybody else’s business.
“I had nothing to do with this,” he said as he turned away to retrieve the ratchet from under the car. All he wanted was to get back to work. No, he didn’t have plans for the night but he had hoped to get back to his digs so he could call Cheri. He didn’t care about the drama between Rooster and his father.

Now, get out of here. When I come home you had better have your bags packed and be gone. If you are not gone by the time I get home I will call the police and turn you in for attacking another person.”
“But, I…”
“I saw what happened,” Roger roared. Man, Mitch thought, that man was angry. He had never heard the man shout let along yell in such a manner before. “I have it on tape! Now, get out!”
Rooster stared for the longest moment. He then turned back to Mitch who was leaning on the car. Mitch swore he mouthed, you’re dead, before turning, dropping the wrench. He stalked out the side door. Roger walked over to Mitch. “You ok?”
“Yes, thank-you for stopping him.”
Roger just nodded, patted Mitch on the should and headed back to his office. At the door he
