For me ... I don't think I do enough or know enough to be called an activist; although I am somewhat active irt current events and politics. To me ... activism is voting regularly, going to tea parties and rallies and writing our congressman and calling them and keeping up with current events. Like that (although that is really only what our responsibility is as citizens ... I think these days it can be called a form of activism since so many of us have stayed to the sidelines over the years and what little we are doing these days seems like activism to us). Wikipedia has this to say

Activism, in a general sense, can be described as intentional action to bring about social change, political change, economic justice, or environmental wellbeing. This action is in support of, or opposition to, one side of an often controversial argument.

The word "activism" is often used synonymously with protest or dissent, but activism can stem from any number of political orientations and take a wide range of forms, from writing letters to newspapers or politicians, political campaigning, economic activism (such as boycotts or preferentially patronizing preferred businesses), rallies, street marches, strikes, both work stoppages and hunger strikes, or even guerrilla tactics.

Radicalism is . . . traditionally associated with leftists. But activism can probably easily cross a line into radicalism on either side. Radicalism, for instance, is what Obama et al are doing.

Obama said it himself, he wants to fundamentally change the U.S. And he is doing it - in some speedy, deep seated revolutionary ways. Wikipedia says this:

In the 20th century, the definition of radical was revised in response to the models of communism and the Soviet Union. At that time, the political term radical often implied Marxism of some kind. Since the early 20th century, radical left has been used as an umbrella term to describe those on the political left who support revolutionary socialism, communism, or anarchism.

In this context, it generally does not include democratic socialists, social democrats, liberals, nor others working in electoral politics, since the radical qualifier tends to denote a revolutionary fervor.

Mmmm... it may not generaly include those categories, but since this admin does seem to support (and has supporters who support) a more revolutionary transformation of the country . . . Ah well, here's something that popped up when I entered Radicalism .. or was it political radicalism .. ah well ... here are some excerpts from it.

For the production of the only thing that gives Radicalism any meaning, three things among others are indispensable. Private property is to be abolished. Marriage is to be abolished. Physical labor is to be shared equally by all."

Thank you, I like the idea of activism in it's purist form. I only THINK radically sometimes :), I try never to ACT radical. Good to talk to you Lee. And thanks for the above!

Anyway, back to the subject - Is anyone surprised that the NEA is now pushing Saul Alinsky? Are people still going to deny their true agenda, here?

Are they sure they want us "stoopid" people getting a hold of those "ideas"... ??? Oh right, they figure we won't understand it.

Hello November Girl. No surprise ... I found about about a year or so ago but only just now thought it might generate some interest. Plus, I had hoped that most people still thought Lucifer was the bad guy in our story even if one believes he's just a symbolic character.

In fact, it's no wonder most of the college kids come out of school sounding like they come from Russia. From who knows what grade on up they are indoctrinated into this crap... er sorry, stuff.
