For those who knew our gather friend

I was informed today that our gather friend..... and a personal Good friend of mine

Passed away yesturday of a heartattack... Talked to his sister today and she said that he'd been in the hospital for a few months and finally gave up yesturday. there isn't going to be any calling hours or services. He''s going to be cremated and sent home to his mother and sister.

Please pray for that family.

Oh, I am so saddened by that news. The dear man will be missed. At least he knew, in the past two years, how much the Gather community cared about him.

That is so terrible. He always got knocked down and then we'd read on Gather how he got back up again. And he'd write such long articles that were a hoot. I switched to Firefox so I wouldn't miss them (E.I would boot me off certain members articles including his). He was a Gather star, you didn't want to miss him.

This is so sad.

I expected him back with more tales of what had all gone down.

So sad.

Oh my Gosh! I just spoke to him on the phone in the hospital a couple of weeks ago. I would have never expected anything like this to happen to Gather's star. I know that I will miss him as so many others shall too.

I haven't the words to describe how I feel about this right now.

Gosh, this is so sad. I thought he was in the hospital due to complications with a fall injury. I had no idea he had a heart condition.

He has been missed and now will continue to be missed.

My mind is having a hard time wrapping itself around this awful news. I am in complete shock here. I never knew he had a heart problem( When I had noticed a few days ago that he had been pinged (something I rarely even take note of) I thought there was a possibility of him making a return to Gather. He was so well liked. His stories were an inspiration to anyone who read them. Its a shame, and a great loss. Good bye Rob, and thank you for many enjoyable post of survival and courage. May you rest in peace, and be among angels. :(

WOW I'm in tears to see how many friend Rob had. I know he had lots but just seeing this is real heart wrenching.
Thank you all and I'm going to copy this post and pass it to his family to show them how many of his friends care.
I've been having a hard time dealing with this. He just got the new leg, and was working his way back up. According to his sister I guess (as some may know) He was gay and the man/friend he's been with married someone else. She thinks he died of a broken heart.

This is heartbreaking. Rob was one of the first people I met here and he was so endearing. I really loved the man. He was one of the sweetest people I knew. Love to his family and friends, he will be deeply missed.

I met Rob through his best friend, Scott, one of my first friends on here, Rob Appell was a joy, but there were always things he didn't tell us. I talked to him when he was in the hospital the first time (twice), by pretending to be his sister - they put me right through to his room.

My condolences to Rob's family and Scott, his best friend.

Rob was the best... there were a couple times he stuck up for me when it wasn't easy to..., and he understood some things that simply made life easier to bear. I thought then and know now that I didn't keep up my end of the bargain.

I met Rob on Boomertown before I came to Gather. Once here he was one of the first ones to welcome me......I so enjoyed reading his posts, they always got my attention and usually made me laugh......I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He is one person I don't think I ever saw a mean word from. No matter if you agreed with hbim or not, he always had a good attitude. I know he lived with a lot of pain and trials, I hope he can rest peacefully now.

I just can't believe it, 'Rob and I had a very special relationship, on Gather and off, I have been trying to call him for the past couple of weeks, Scott put up that he was in rehab, I know he didn't want to go into a nursing home, if that was what that was, the last I did speak to him and I put up a piece telling all where he was, he was in great spirits, and aching to go home, God Bless you Rob, you have gone home way to early, I love you so much, Elsie
