AT WAR
©2009 (Veteran’s Day) Robert Burnham
Blood was shed
Tears were cried
Time stood still
Mother’s asked why
Soldiers trained
Soldiers died
To protect the dream
Of mom’s apple pie
Blood was shed
Tears were cried
INNOCENT SOLDIER

A rapidly raised flag
A call to arms
Seed of Patriotism
Placing you in harm
You always return
In body or spirit
We celebrate your life
Your freedom; we inherit

This coming Sunday 11.08.09, I will be delivering a special Veteran’s Day message and poem at Calvary Baptist Church, Le Roy, NY.

Thanks for reminding us that veterans day is not just a (rarely) paid holiday. Hope that your speech and poem go well.
But I'm Randi
But you still made me smile with that comeback.

Thank you for making a special tribute to our beloved veterans.

War, indeed, is hell. The least we owe to those who willingly go into it for our sake is to honour their service, honour their sacrifice, honour their memory. These poems help to do that. Nice job.
