I like to explore the site and see the sights fairly regularly. Usually, I keep my doors locked and windows rolled up, slowing down enough to silently capture the essence of what is happening among those who are sharing this piece of cyberspace called Gather. Never having been one to pay too much attention to groups because they were not implemented in a way I thought was useful, I just throw my posts in a few generic groups, unless they’re political or religious, bearing an appropriate placement elsewhere as well.
One group that I have noticed more, only because the members and editors get so ticked off when people inadvertently or purposely, perhaps to annoy, place inappropriate posts within, is the Gather Writing Essentials Group. If you watch Gather’s People Page, you’ll often come across the most scathing epithets when some uppity Gather Essential Writing Editor has noticed an inappropriate post that has been submitted to one of the group’s sub-groups for which he or she is charged. You’d think someone had spilled red wine on a $500 white dinner dress, indelibly staining it and ruining her whole evening.
There are only a couple of editors who are/were so gauche, and I’m sure you can guess easily enough, so no names will be required. It’s fun to watch for a while as the poor culprit usually writes another post expressing his or her distress at being so flagrantly abused, and threatens to leave the site as his or her friends flock swiftly to attend to a funeral where the buried alive is the host or hostess. They’re also usually visited by the editors themselves and the horde of followers of the editors who are most usually not even members of the group, but feel the need to come by and hammer the last nails into the coffin, usually pointing out grammar and spelling errors in the guilty party’s self-written epitaph. Since these editor followers aren’t writers themselves, most of the grammar and spelling errors are reflected in their own comments, but that’s just side-show entertainment for those of us who are partial to comedic irony.
The couple of editors to whom I refer were peeing in their pants with excitement last summer when Gather chose them to be Writing Essential Editors. I almost bought stock in Kimberly-Clark, predicting an exponential surge in Depend sales. They even wrote articles that they were to be engaged in the same enterprise, like two schoolgirls who had just been chosen for the Dallas Cowboy cheerleading squad.
Actually, I was rather happy for them knowing they would have some purpose for being here other than to constantly complain that the site is for writers, having given up all hope for some published work they might be hawking after nearly three years here. Some writers just aren’t as prolific as others, I guess. I also knew it would provide some further amusement, sooner or later, for my entertaining drives through the site. Over the last few days, there has been quite the commotion within the Writing Essentials Group. Apparently, a most pertinent question was ignored completely by a certain Gather CEO, and there is conflict and dissension abounding, leaving us with some of the juiciest tales they’ve ever told. Some lesser Hemingway was chosen to be an editor and jealousy and envy abounds. You’ve got to love the drama among the writers. It’s really some of their best writing and the closest they’ll get to Hemingway, so maybe it’s all for the best.

and since your so up to date on what is going on, you will have noticed that posts and other content are being pulled, so that when we do leave gather, and YES WE WILL, this site will no longer be able to profit from our hard work.
enjoy your time in the asylum that this place is becoming while the rats leave the sinking ship.
"enjoy your time in the asylum that this place is becoming whilethe rats leave the sinking ship."
When are you leaving? Can I plan my schedule around it?
Yeah, they profited so much they had to seriously cut back on the point program so that you can cash out for a gift card once every two years. Guess your hard work wasn't so profitable for them after all. Hey, put it on your CV that your hard work almost bankrupted a website, and see what happens.
and you don't know shit about what you speak of in this post since you obviously weren't involved. you just hate the people that were. i notice you weren't on any of those posts you are so knowingly talking about. nor were you privy to the grossly deranged emails that the "Hemingway sisters and their followers" (an obvious statement of your dislike of certain people} were getting hammered with.
you know as well as anyone, since your so up to date on what's going on with this site, that comments don't get you many points, but page views and posting do, which is really your motivation behind this.
I read as much as I needed to read. Any animus that was directed at either of them in any e-mails is none of my concern. I am sure it was well deserved. I'm not going to say that I didn't want to gloat a little over this becaue I did. That was my purpose, but if you think I care for or need a lousy $25 gift certificate that badly, you don't know anything about me. Time for my cocktail hour. Do keep me informed of the departure date.

#6 - you even admit it's cut and paste.
#7 - cut and paste of other gather members
#8 - cut and paste video embedding
#9 - here's an intelligent (not really) OSA that contains two links. a lot of effort put in there i see.
#10 - how about this one
#11 -
#12
would you like me to keep going? or how about i link to the ones where you attack other gather members and post their emails, or how about ones like the following where you can't wait to lure the (insert snide term for those you hate here) and laugh about how your page views are going up and hope people show up so you can abuse them?
You can't even count because there is no #5 and suddenly we switch to #6.
If you could read, number 6 is not a copy and paste of mine. The link said that this is a copy and paste, meaning that it wasn't mine. It was a link to a copy and paste because I wanted to make a point about that information that was contained in that person's post that was entirely different from the poster's point.
There is not one example of a copy and paste article here. They are links that show reference, but the words in the articles are all my own except for minimal quotations in some to make MY points. They are not ever taken and copied with just a few lines of my own thoughts. The only one that is a few lines is a quote of an update linked to several articles I had written to that related topic
I have over 400 posts on this site and not one of them is someone else's work. I'm not referring to the Anderson Cooper, Sean Connery, that excalmation point, and a recent postcard e-mail I posted. If you want to don me queen of cut and pastes becasue I cite my work with links, then it just shows your own illiteracy.
...But I'm not done with you yet, not by a longshot.
Here's one of your engaging posts. Is this some of the hard work that we're going to miss when you never leave?

This is why I prefer Redgage to Gather lately.

One of my paintings was featured on Redgage. This is the 4th time I've been featured over there for a nice bonus of $5.00 a pop.
(see how creative i am)
Is this what you learned in the Writing Essential Group? They didn't teach you when to use a pronoun or a contraction?

Investigators have little new to go on in the case of a Pensacola woman missing since Thursday.
Samira Watkins, 25, of Pensacola, who is two months pregnant, was last seen by her family about 9:30 p.m. Thursday when she left the home of her grandmother, Minnie Joseph, on DeSoto Street.
for more, go to PNJ.com
(now y'all know i normally don't post news, but since it's what gather wants to give points for, and i'm close to cash out, thought i'd put this up since it's in my town)
oh, and aren't i creative
what happened to number 5, most likely my eyes were hurting from all the religious and political mumbo jumbo i was subjected to in your posts and i missed it. it's a mistake and nothing more. look who's now seems to "feel the need to come by and hammer the last nails into the coffin, usually pointing out grammar and spelling errors in the guilty party’s self-written epitaph.
never claimed to be a writer. say so often when i do write. my skills lay with a canvas and a brush.
i only got to page 12 of your 24 pages of posts because quite frankly, i got bored with the constant references to religion and obama hating political posts to continue on.
i did however notice how often you would write a barely cloaked article based off of the very same people you are going after in here. obsess much?
and as far as photos go, you did cut and paste them. regardless of whether or not you got them in an email or stole them from a website, you did not take them yourself. they are copyrighted images owned by someone other than you, so yes, they fall into the Cut & Paste category.

I'm still not done with you, but I can only take so much of looking at your stuff at one time.
oh, please do, i'm so close to a cash out, your page views will be much appreciated.
and thanks to the link to my purses, i've sold all of them and have had many more requests. sorry you have no sense of fashion or adventure.
I don't for a second think you'll leave this site. Those people who have threatened to leave have threatened to leave so many times, I don't even pay attention anymore. You're a follower by all standards. If they don't leave, neither will you. That you don't recognize that much doesn't surprise me either. Wallow in your ignorance; it's all you can do. Hope it's as blissful for you as they say.
the only thing i've ever followed was a few bands that i like the music of. i've always done things my way and just because i prefer to laugh and have a good time doesn't mean i'm ignorant because i don't like to scream my opinions in peoples faces until they leave in disgust and look for people like me who enjoy life to it's fullest to spend time around.
your just like the "lesser hemmingway" as you called that substitute editor, albeit with much better spelling and grammar knowledge, in that you hate anyone who gets attention and is fun to be around, because it's what you wish you could be but will never manage to achieve.
so go ahead and gloat about the imaginary battle that you will insist that you won. it still won't make you any better of a person or more likable to others.
I read as much as I needed to read. Any animus that was directed at either of them in any e-mails is none of my concern. I am sure it was well deserved. I'm not going to say that I didn't want to gloat a little over this becaue I did. That was my purpose...
so you admit you don't know the full story and are taking this as an opportunity to lash out at people you don't like. very mature.
As for "envy abounds" because of a certain person getting the WE position. You couldn't be more wrong. I have no doubt that if you had been involved in what happened, or really did know the details of the issue, you would be one of the first to step up and ask for an explanation. In the three plus years that I've been here I have never felt so strongly about something, nor have I taken a stand about something. It isn't my style. In this case, the person has no business as a WE editor and I even question if she should be allowed to remain on Gather. I know drama is fun to watch, but when it crosses the line into slander, it isn't funny anymore.
I still do not know the details of this drama, and I don't really care what they are, but I do find it interesting that I was correct in my assessment that they cannot be involved in anything without causing turbulence. It's what they thrive on.
I also saw the person they chose as the WE editor. Whether or not I agree that the person is qualified has no bearing on what happened. I came to this site to discuss politics, and there is one political editor whose work is so bad, writing is so poor, logic is almost non-existent, and mental acuity is so low, I am embarrassed to say that I have even commented on his posts the few times that I have. I don't make a fuss about it because I don't own this site. That is their choice and not mine. One of your editors ignores every gross grammatical blunder he makes, but she'll be the first to point out some minor grammar or spelling error by someone she doesn't like.
Why is there such a fuss over this particular editor if there is no jealousy or envy involved? I'm very good at seeing the underlying dynamics while everyone else is focused on what appears to be happening. You can have your opinion, but I can have mine.
