The big ugly bug in my kitchen this morning

After just a few minutes of research, I've concluded that it is in fact a jerusalem cricket and not a mormon cricket as I was previously informed. In any case, I have no idea how it got into my kitchen, but it was quickly escorted from the premises.

How on earth can you tell its religion? And now that I am living in the land of mutant bugs and flora, I can totally relate to the icky bug thing. However, I never pause long enough to determine breed or background. I carry a can of Black Flag in a shoulder holster instead, ready to rid the world of random vermin!

I believe the naming has to do with all of those "plague of locusts" events in the various religious books.

For some reason this reminds me of our Brasilian exchange students...they'd never seen a slug before and were fascinated with them. You know how it is up here in Seattle, the slug should be the state mascot.
