You may have heard the story of the Marine in Iraq who found a stray dog he named, Nubs. This dog followed this Marine for miles until the Marine raised $5,000. to take him to the states.
I just bought the book from Amazon. It's such a heart warming love story. We just found out my daughter's dog who is 13 may have a brain tumor. They keep treating him for an ear infection, and he keeps falling over. We are devasted. He is too old for surgery, and if the MRI proves a tumor, he'll have to be put down.
Then, my dog, who I speak of often, is a Golden Retriever with lots of health problems. He is costing us a small fortune which I don't have. Most people tell me to put him down including the vet. (We got a new vet) Anyway, he go sick yesterday again. I think about it, but right now as I am working on the computer, he is right here, next to me. That's all he wants is to be with me.
I think of Nubs who walked 70 miles to be with his love Marine, and the total love a pet gives us. I can't put my dog down. As for the brain tumor, if it's so, I agree with putting him down, if he's suffering.
Thanks for listening.

I have only had one animal put down in my life, but I have had several past wives who have put down pets when I was not there to prevent it.
My sweet baby Poco was love at first sight. Monna and I were just walking around Trader's Village, heard dogs yapping walked over and a man had three Taco Bell colored dogs in a cage. An adjoining cage had a small black Chihuahua sitting by him self. I took one look turned to Monna to ask if she had her checkbook with her and she was already reaching into her purse. I've had him ten years and after Monna died he has been such a source of comfort for me. Poquito because he is Mexican and Poco for short. If he goes first it will be as hard for me as all of the humans I've lost. Unconditional love, your name is Poco.
I think many people put their pets down because they just don't want to be bothered with them. Something that a dog would never consider doing to us if the roles were reversed.
The most heart wrenching thing to watch is a pet/companion suffering and when my Beagles reach their end of days I know that the most loving thing I can do is to end their suffering--a gift of another type of life, for ALL dogs and horses go to Heaven!
