How Do You Figure What Jobs Were Saved.

I have a huge question? How do you figure out how many jobs are saved? How can in all honesty this administration claim jobs that they have no real proof that they saved . I think this is a classic case of fuzzy math being use by this administration. You can't prove a negative. I mean if I said that it didn't rain today because I showed up. Could you prove me wrong? The very fact I showed up eliminates any possibility of proving me wrong. So to claim that these jobs have been "saved" because of the stimulus is faulty. It was passed so you can't know what would have happened if it hadn't been passed.

Plus we were told that if the stimulus wasn't passed that unemployment would go as high as 8%. Well it passed that and we were told that they didn't expect things to be as bad as they really were. Now this past week the VP said the stimulus was working as planned. What? Why are we allowing all this double speak and obfuscation from our "leaders"?

You are right. The jobs saved figures cannot be proven. "Jobs Saved" just sounds good.
"Created or Saved" Yah, right!! Where are these jobs???? I don't know anyone who believes that.
The media & responsible journalists need to ask the hard questions when they interview politicians. Even that is not enough.

It is just one of those things you either take at face value or not. Since you already said "you can't prove a negative' why ask the question? You also can not measure anything if you didn't KNOW how long or deep the downturn was going to be. One might want to just imagine things being twice as bad as they are now and where lots of us would be. Jobs are created when money is spent....................how much have we been able to spend this year? Did you patronize your local stores and restaurants as much, replace appliances or furniture? Get a raise or bonus? Start or expand a business? How about your friends....same questions? Understandable to be partisan but at least be fair about the conclusions you may draw. Might be time to insist that DC stop playing their silly games and move the rest of the stimulous money into the economy ASAP!

But ape there is no line drawn by this administration distinguishing "saved" jobs from "new" jobs. if they say 47,000 jobs saved or created and leave it at that how do we determine what jobs are what. For all we know it was 1000 new jobs and 46,000 saved jobs. The number makes them sound great without any solid information to back it up. Doesn't that seem a bit shady to you?

The future of transportation is driverless, and the future of education is on-line. These are the two biggest categories, but both are retrograde infrastructure projects.

If you take the States budget, and add the stimulus money spent, then jobs in these two categories are jobs saved.

Are these jobs outdated? Absolutely.

All I can prove is that my job wasn't saved - and I still don't have a new one - 12 months later. Probably 200 job applications put out. A couple of responses I've gotten tell me thousands of people have applied for the (not very good) jobs I've been trying to get. And my unemployment benefits are just about out, even with the extensions. It's hard for me to believe in any kind of actual recovery going on when, personally, I see absolutely no improvement.
