New Ocean

In the middle of African in Ethopia lies a crack that's 35 miles long and 20 miles wide in spots.  Scientists believe it will become an ocean.

It probably won't. What about the end of the world? When is The Sun expected to become a supernova? Our encounter with Nemesis is expected to occur much sooner than that.

Ours is an orange type G star. It isn't expected to nova, but will probably implode in another 30 million years.

The Atlantic Ocean is believed to have started just this way.

That was Pangea during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras about 250 million years ago. Then the sub-strata (plates) started to crack. That's the problem with liquid core planets. Stuff moves.

Spelled it wrong, sorry. I meant Pangaea, from Ancient Greek πᾶν pan "entire", and Γαῖα Gaia "Earth".
