First yoga class (ever!) today .... there were 3 of us plus the teacher, who is a graduate student @ my uni as well.
I really enjoyed it - even though, thanks to my wonky wrists and other assorted old joints, there were some things that I could not do, or at least not for as long as the other two students who were, after all, young uns.
Now that I know what it's about I will hit a wal-mart and buy my own mat and maybe even some exercise clothes - the pants I was wearing worked fine, but the shirt will not do!!!! Can't have lose clothes ... means ya have to stare at y'er own chest when you're doing some o' the poses. That won't do!
I have very good flexibility - a holdover from many years of gymnastics as a teenager - and continuing to sit in weird positions ever since ... but strength... well, I could work on some o' that!
I found it really, really interesting - it is kind of like do it yourself chiropractics...and I suspect that if I continue to attend, I will see improvements in my overall posture/balance.....AND most importantly, it is like a little island of stress relief....
while I was engaged I wasn't thinking about all the ~stuff~ I have to get done, deadlines, or other assorted frustrations... was just focused on breathing and following the instructions.
I was sorry when it ended - although also a ~tad~ relieved! It was a LOT more work than I expected, and it irked me that my wrists were so damned unco-operative!

ps. have you read through my resume again yet?
Ended up going to bed very early
No doubt. I've been doing yoga for fifteen years. I consider myself extremely fortunate for having been introduced to it. It develops strength, flexibility, balance and focus. As you continue your practice, I'm sure you will have the same sentiments. It is has truly been a God-send for me. I hope it is that for you too.
