I'm not a big one for writing political posts or even talking politics among friends, but since it's election day - it has gotten me thinking.
Now, I'm a simple person, with a complex brain and the two don't always match up, but I'll do the best I can here.
It's no mystery that there are a lot of unhappy people these days - they don't like the president, they like the president, but don't like what others are saying about him, they don't like the state of the economy, too many people are homeless, too many people are jobless, too many people don't have healthcare, the government is too involved in social issues, the government is not involved enough in social issues, we shouldn't be in the war, we don't have enough troops fighting in the war, and the list goes on and on.
Well, in my humble opinion the country has come to such dividing lines because WE as citizens of the United States have not taken responsibility when we walk into the polling booths, if we take responsibility at all.
How often do you do any research at all over whom you are electing when you pull that proverbial ballot? If you are against lobbyists taking over our government, then don't vote for anyone unless they publicly denounce lobbyists money. Hey, we have to start somewhere.
Remember, our leaders can't run this country unless we put them there first.
It is my wish that every American started taking responsibility for their votes and actually voted in officials that were going to work for the people and by the people.

Welcome to Your Government. You own it, Now Run It- The White House
Once elected, the President, our Senators and Representatives need to be reminded why they were elected and what we want them to do. Send them emails and faxes. Call them. You would not believe just how powerful one phone call can be.
Yes . . . We need to get rid of all those lobbyists. They are too powerful and they do not represent US.
