They may have had an illusion of what America is and what Americans are. America is a large expanse of land. The idea some people had about the country is better informed now than the past. So they still like the idea of what it should be but not what it is....comes down to people. I say we are still uncivilized for the most part. Women are still suffering from being the lesser of men. Black and other minorities still do not enjoy the promise of the promised land of opportunity and equality, since it never existed in reality. I say we are in a state of moral schizophrenia. Reality can be watched on TV while the real world lives in illusion. Mindfulness would be a good place to start. In a real world we would be building bridges rather than walls around our homes and hearts, all weapons would be buried and money would be spend to build factories so people could work and making the things they need. Communities would be just that and people would finally come out of their houses and spend some time on the porch talking with their neighboors. TV would be banned and people would cook rather than order pizza. What do you think?
