This movie is about a robot who learns what it means to be human. His scientist/inventor father creates him to replace the real son that he lost. Unfortunately, he finds him lacking as a replacement and sends him away. He must find his true place in the world; he must find his destiny.
This is a great family movie with very little cussing or sexuality. There is some violence, but it is mostly between robots. I don't believe that it would be too scary for most younger children.
The plot is quite intriguing. It's interesting to think about what really makes a human a human. There are some learning moments along the way. It's a cute movie with cute moments, and it's good enough that it'll hold children (and probably most adults) attention well. There were several children in the movie theater with us, and they seemed to really enjoy this.
On a side note, there is an interesting theme throughout about the way robots should be treated. This is not the first movie to broach the subject of robot "rights." I wonder if this is going to be an issue sometime in the future. It's interesting to think about anyway.
I would probably give this movie somewhere around a B. It's good and worth seeing, but it's not something everyone will enjoy. You'll have to judge for yourself if it's something you'd want to see in the theater.

I know the storyline from the TV cartoon, so it would not have surprised me.
