This week on Californication, Karen came back from NYC with Becca to surprise Hank. It is refreshing to see the two of them together, seeing as it took them so long to realize they are perfect for each other. Episode 6 does not really deal with Hank's relationships with his TA, student, or Felicia, it deals mostly with Becca.
When Karen visits she tells Hank that Chelsea (Felicia's daughter) is a bad influence on Becca, and she wants to take Becca back to New York with her. Becca has had somewhat of a coming-of-age, finally having a friend and feeling like she belongs. Hank has a very good relationship with her, despite how eff-ed up viewers think it is, but Hey that's Californication for you.
Karen audits Hank's class and picks out who he has slept with. . . they have a run-in with Felicia who seems to be quite upset that Karen is back. Felicia is seriously crushing on Hank, and Karen seems to be getting in the way.
Karen and Hank attend a dinner party at Charlie and Marcy's house, where Rick Springfield is staying. Rick is one of Charlie's new clients. Marcy has always had a crush on Rick and winds up consummating her young love with him; only upsetting Charlie, who feels like he will now never be able to live up to Rick, sexually. Sue, Charlie's boss, is at the dinner party as well. When Hank and Karen have to rush out to pick up Becca from Felicia's house, for raiding their wine cellar, Marcy and Rick make their move upstairs. Visibly upset, Sue helps Charlie become the man Marcy wants him to be.
Meanwhile Hank and Karen arrive at the Dean's house to find the Dean and his wife drunk out of their minds. Becca and Chelsea had opened hundreds of bottles of wine, not to go to waste they ask Karen and Hank to join them. Hank does not help with the situation, but Karen gets angry. While they are taking Becca to leave she vomits on the Dean's crotch.
Later that night Becca has a heart-to-heart with Hank telling him she is finally happy here and doesn't want to start over again in New York. It is a touching moment between the father and daughter, only proving how much their relationship has grown and how far apart Karen has become.
This episode 6 was a great one. If you missed Californication, you can always read about it on my page, or catch it on Showtime Sunday nights.
