Twilight

I have read all the books but hadn't seen the Twilight, the movie. Friends have given wonderful reviews. I finally got around to getting the movie. Most movies are so different from the book and I was prepared for this. However, it's my opinion that Twilight followed the spirit of the book very well. Yes, there are things that have been left out but, you can't include absolutely everything.

Yes, my daughter and I watched it. It was horrible. I usually say Kristen Stewart is a horrible actor, but after thinking about the book, she played Bella true to type: boring and blah. I am still puzzled as to why everyone in the books t hinks she's so wonderful. That being said, I will probably watch the movie again, on the chance that I'll like it better. I am sort of looking forward to New Moon.

That is one of the great things about movies. Everyone has their own opinion. Although this is not Academy Award quality, I found the movie to be enjoyable and true to the spirit of the book.

Bella is simply the central character in the books so that makes her interesting. They are, after all, teenagers and have yet to develop both intellectually and emotionally. I believe that is why the books lack some of the depth we are accustomed to. That is only my opinion, mind you. LOL!

I read a LOT of YA, and most have depth and are more sophisticated than the 'grown up' books! So I'm not sure about Twilight; it's just a good story, I guess.

I have not read the book nor seen the movie. my sister and cousins and their girls are huge twilight fans. glad you enjoyed it.

yes I've seen twilight and honestly it was painful to watch....kristen stewart was horrible, she tried wayyy too hard. Hopefully New Moon will be better, the previews look awesome

One thing about Twilight is that it doesn't have that feel of the standard vampire films. Twilight is the groundwork for the rest of the series. The story is more developed in New Moon so I hope the film can live up to the storyline in the book.

I hadn't realized how controversial this movie is. Guess I should have known as it is about vampires. I read all the books and found them to be lacking the depth of books by Dan Brown, but had to remind myself that they were written about and for teenagers. Please let me know your thoughts after you have seen the movie.

I only read the books, all in the series, due to the movie. I had never heard of them until then. As I mentioned, the reading/viewing audience target is teenagers. These books may not be a subject you enjoy reading.

I truly enjoyed the depth and quality of books by Dan Brown. His books are well researched and he creates and exhilarating storyline.

Glad you enjoyed the movie, Erin. I will be watching it again. I, too, am looking forward to New Moon. From what I've seen the advertised opening date is November 20. Believe I want to see this one in a theater.

Yes, my son read all 4 books and then his friend brought over the DVD and we watched the movie. I thought it was kind of slow but the acting was pretty good. I could see why the girls really like it - that Robert Pattinson is so sexy. My son wasn't thrilled with the movie. He liked the book better.

It is a different take on vampires. These are teenagers and the male lead has been 17 years old for a very long time. LOL!

I liked the movie. Sure the book was better, but isn't that always the way. You can't included everything, some things just don't translate well to the screen.

The books are, in my opinion, always better than the movie. Movies have budget limitations and they simply can't include everything.

Movies can be better than bad books by giving them good acting (but I don't know if these ones have good acting - never saw them).

Robert Pattison reminds me a bit of James Dean with his brooding good looks. You can also have the best actors and have poor directing. It's such a combination of things. LOL!

The movie was good, not great but it was aimed at a teen audience so I think it fit the bill rather nicely. I am looking forward to New Moon, only 10 days to go!
