In a last minute RNC effort to squeeze a few more Hoffman votes for the 23 New York Congressional race ex-President Ronald Reagan was exhumed, dressed in a cowboy outfit, mounted on a stuffed pony secured to a flatbed trailer and paraded across the highways and byways of rural New York. A wire waved his lifeless arm while a audio loop of “Mr. Gorbachav, TEAR DOWN THIS WALL,” blasted endlessly across the countyside. The roads were lined with stunned crowds in reverential silence.
Response from the GOP leadership was mixed. Ex-Presidential contender John McCain said, “It’s great to have the gipper back. I will gladly donate my daily injection of formaldehyde to keep the old boy fresh.”
Sarah Palin, when asked her opinion of the Reagan's new role in GOP leadership said, “Who?”
In his weekly radio address Rush Limbaugh’s jowls flushed, turned scarlet, then purple before quivering uncontrollably. Glen Beck wept.

I guess that was when I first realized that you needed to pay attention NOT to what a politician SAYS...but what he DOES.

Ronald Reagan was not so conservative or bigoted as Today's Republicans.
I posted this, here in Gather.com :

We have short memories when it comes to our presidents.
I am so tired of hearing how Reagan presided over an unmatched economic boom. It's simply not true -- the economy grew slightly faster under President Clinton, and, according to Congressional Budget Office estimates, the after-tax income of a typical family, adjusted for inflation, rose more than twice as much from 1992 to 2000 as it did from 1980 to 1988.
