Mrgh. Steroids taste terrible. Sinus infections are unpleasant. And I'm feeling like I'm on fire and achy. Not what I would call pleasant.
Still, I've got some good things to contemplate, as well. Health insurance doesn't kick in for another month, but I'm pretty certain I can get a few good columns out of comparing the differences once it does -- our current medical service is a clinic where we spend roughly two to three hours in various waiting areas for fifteen minutes of actual medical attention (and only five of those from an actual doctor). Makes me wonder why you need an appointment when it really doesn't seem to change how long it takes to get seen.
As you might've guessed, L and I both have sinus infections -- I caught it from her, heh -- which means I'm staying home through Wednesday on doctor's orders. Fortunately, I have some work I can get done from home, which should keep my employer happy and make sure that I actually get some pay still (I'm a bit tenuous on the sick-day policy there, and besides that I'm still paranoid, so anything I can do to increase value is a good thing.) 'Course, I should probably be focusing on resting and relaxing... but I'm terrible at that.
I've also noticed that Comment Speedway has finally hit 2,500 members. I've been having trouble keeping up with moderation there recently, which is annoying, because I actually have some big plans for a contest that I've been saving for that magic 2,500 number. I'll have to make an announcement sometime this week. Codename: Ignition Impossible. More on that later.
I should reiterate, steroids taste terrible. Or at least, the ones I was prescribed do. It's a six day treatment, staggered out over the interim, and they taste unpleasant -- strongly chemical. I'm pretty sure they're not the 'Hulk Smash' sort of steroids, unfortunately.
On another too-much-info side note, my weight's gotten pretty high -- well, for what I'm used to it being -- and one thing I should be focusing more on is exercise and improved diet. Over the past two years, my general state has been increasingly sedentary, so I really need to improve one way or another. Maybe learn to ride a bike, I don't know.
So, yeah, enough rambling out of me. Just out of curiosity, if you were participating in a large contest, what would you want to see as a prize? I traditionally go with Amazon.com gift certificates - but I was considering direct prizes for some of the top spots (a new camera, for example.) Any thoughts?

Congrats on reaching 2500 members!
Gift cards are usually the wisest option.
And on the contest, I think gift cards are the easiest for everyone.
I rather enjoy gift cards, as well.
Re steroids--when you complete the Rx to avoid intestinal issues of the most undesirable kind, take pro-biotics, and eat yoghurt's with active cultures which will not allow yeast to grow in your throat. Steroids strip away the good and the bad things in your immune system so replenish!
feel better
well its your choice since you're buying it! But if you want my opinion laptop please lol ...
Hee, and I don't think even my prize budget will allow a laptop, or at least a decent one. ::wry grin:: So gift cards it will remain.
Well, wish you speedy recovery from your ailments. Otherwise, one needs to keep away from drugs and Steroids for which regulating the diet is the best. How should I tell you but I keep fit with just one full meal in the evening and light during the day. No illness, no worries. Thanks for the post.
Gift cards sounds ok here!
I'm fond of the Amazon GC's!
Congratulations with the membership numbers!
Second -- congratulations on the 2500 members!
Personally, I'm going along with the Amazon cert/gift card vote. Contests are really only of value if they give something everyone can use -- if someone is on gather, they are on the internet and can access amazon. Gather has a couple gift cards I'd love to use, but the stores aren't in this area.
