I enjoy reading Christmas wish lists here on gather. It's reminds me of the old hometown radio station that would read letters to Santa everyday at 6 p.m. My cousins and I would listen everyday until finally the announcer got around to our letters and we would be so happy. It was then, and is now, fun to see what everyone wants for Christmas.
While I've met very few of you, I count my gather friends among my inner circle. Some might say it's sad, but I think it's precious. I am lucky enough to have friends from around the world, people with so many different talents and gifts and people who are willing to share support and advice on a moment's notice. I wish I was wealthy enough to fulfill the Christmas Wish List of all of my gather connections. Even if I was that wealthy, I probably would be lacking in simple energy. (One of my closest friends, a gather ocnnection, is still waiting for a gift from last year. I promise, dear,I will eventually get to the mail box and send it to you!)
Anyway, when making out your gather Christmas Wish List, consider including a few things that don't require cash or a trip to the post office for those who have no money and are just too tired at the end of the day to add another errand. I'm not being cynical...I'm being realistic. Last year, I did not post a Christmas list, but one of my connections gave me a very precious gift; she went back and commented on the first 25 or 50 articles I had written on gather...things that were published before she and I connected. The fact that she would spend that much time and leave a funny little holiday messages for me meant so much. I laughed and got all warm and fuzzy. Needless to say, my point score went up, too, which made it much quicker for me to reach my next cash-out.
So, along with all of the other things you include, consider adding something that could be sent through regular mail (coupons for diapers or a certain brand of dog food). Is there anything online that we could give you...perhaps someone might want to sign up on swagbucks or mypoints. Do you have an account on helium or associated content where we could give you page views that would turn into money?
I hope this doesn't make anyone mad or hurt anyone's feelings. That is certainly not my intent. I would just like to see ways where we can help each other even when we're having a tough time.

It does not require money or trip to the PO.
I did not take it as insulting or insensitive. Everyone is having a hard time this year and think it is a great post. :)
Are you ok??
: (
your heart is in the right place...and if we got the go ahead to do so, I would change my wishlist entirely!!!
I was just asking everyone tonight what they wanted from Santa. My oldest asked me what I wanted. I honestly did not have anything in mind. I'm always busy being concerned on how to manage having a good Christmas for them.
Many of the things I would like to have for myself, personally, really cannot be purchased at a store.
I'm not offended. Lots of points you made deserve some thought.
Last year, I tried to prepare my nieces for perhaps few toys under the tree by explaining the recession and how many people don't have money, but money's not the most important thing. So, when grandma asked them to right what they wanted for Christmas, their usual list of dozens of toys was narrowed down to baby alive and maybe a few books. When she asked why they wanted so little, they replied it was because of the "succession."
Also trying to spend a little more time over here.
Hope all is well with you.
I have no clue where the Christmas wishlist posts are???
would you belive I am a group member?
OMG I am so dingy
