Dede Scozzafava is probably not a name you've ever heard, unless you live in New York state. Up until yesterday (Oct. 31), she was hoping to represent the 23rd District as the Republican candidate.
But her dream is not to be, at least not in this race. After realizing that she was being outspent and damned by what passes as "leadership" in the Republican party, Ms. Scozzafava, a moderate, dropped out of the race and threw her energy in supporting another - Bill Owens, the Democrat's candiate.
Dede Scozzafava was just too moderate for the likes of Sarah Moosegutter Palin and failed presidential hope-beyond-all-hopeful and mediocre actor, Fred Thompson. For one thing, it seems Ms. Scozzafava has a habit of thinking for herself. She supports gay rights and a woman's right to choose. (Anyone willing to bet she may also be a Christmas-and-Easter churchgoer?)
Toeing the line set by the lunatic fringe, Micheal Steele announced the GOP, which once fully supported Dede, would be backing the Moosegutter's choice, Doug Hoffman. The talk radio conservatives also helped push Hoffman into the spotlight by promoting him over Scozzafava. Hoffman is being funded by "conservative" groups.
What's happening to the Republican Party? What are they rebelling against? Common sense? Moderation? Freedom to choose a lifestyle most fitting each individual? Progress? All of these?
What part of the "pick an extreme nutjob and run her/him for higher office" strategy worked for them in last year's Presidential election?
Scozzafava seemed willing to work in a bi-partisan manner. She feels the candidate she is backing will do the same. The GOP wants to stick with the onward Christians soldiers mentality, at a time when people are becoming tired of fighting over stupid issues aimed at trying to legislate their particular view of morality.
Time for the elephant to stop smoking crack and get clean. Just like a drug addict, the GOP is so busy accusing others of the wrongs they openly commit, they can't see it's time to go to rehab. Unlike Amy Winehouse, they will not get a hit song out of their refusal to get clean.

But it is quite hard to believe that either sides think that the split will help them. The conservative conservatives, think they are going to attract some moderate Democrats, and that is quite hilarious!
I'm not knockin' it, but it just seems insane to form such an insular circular firing squad with no apparent leadership.
I know there are a lot of crazies out there, but are there enough to support the GOP?
It is the wannabes, which now include Pawlenty (who was assumed to know better) that are hitching their hopes to the nutcase right.
I was going to write about this last night but I was too tired. This is just another example of how the GOP allows a fringe element of their party to dictate who and should run for office even though they've lost the Senate, House and Majority of Governorships over the last 10 years.
They just don't get it. They actually believe that the majority of Americans will somehow support Right Wing Extremism. They actually think that Sarah Palin will somehow or someway become palatable to the voting block. They actually believe that Michael Steele has a degree of credibility and that minorities, in general, and African Americans ,in particular, will side with him and his incompetency.
It just goes to show that there is no room in the Republican Party for Moderates or anyone whom question their extreme agenda.
Believe it or not, I actually feel sorry for them. They are irrelevant and will remain so.
The GOP would never ever accept Sarah Palin as their candidate for President of the United States of America. It's not in their nature. The only reason they accepted her as a Vice Presidential candidate was because they were blind-sided by John McCain.
Do you remember how they threw Former President George Bush's nominee for the Supreme Court, Harriet Myers under the bus? There's no room on the GOP bandwagon for anyone but members of the "Good Ole Boys Network."
Only those born with a "Silver Spoon" in their mouths are allowed membership. I.E., the incompetent ex-president George Bush.
Just take a peek at the GOP convention and you'll understand what I'm talking about. There's no room for opposing points of views. No room for minorities, women or gays.
They are a very exclusionary party and Sarah Palin will soon learn that.
Moosegutter is dumb enough to keep being their poster girl. She wants the attention.
I admit, I'm rather amazed at the stupidity of this move. I know Dede comes from a district that has NEVER voted in a Democrat and if that changes, I'm wondering if the message will be received if her backing the Dem changes things.
Must be cannibals, zombies hunt for brains, brains, braaaaains.
And the deserve to drown with them. They can't have it both ways - use them when it's convenient and disown them when it isn't.

winging it
Can someone please tell Dick Cheney to go home and put on his slippers. All this ranting isn't good for that bad ticker? He ought to take a clue from his (lol) boss, W. The time for ranting is past.
Liz Cheney took a jab at the President's late-night salute to the bodies of returning soldiers at Dover Airforce Base.
She sneered, "George Bush would do this without photographers present."
No one corrected the brainless automaton to note that Dear Leader Bush II never went to Dover, nor ever acknowledged in any way the consequences of his failed administration.
The real delight for rational Americans will begin next Spring, when the nutcases will start challenging all sitting Republicans in primary elections. That will be an incredible gift to the Democrats.
Moosegutter and her iik still believe that they speak for "most Americans". All the evidence is to the contrary.
Tomorrow, my state will vote on issues that will change the freaking state constitution to allow casinos and to allow a corporate power grab of small farms.
Last year, the gambling issue was well defeated. Unemployment went up and now groups that were against it are not solidly for it. They've raised a chorus of jobs, jobs, jobs. Never mind the information to the contrary.
Organized stupidity can go far if they stay on message.
In California a few Republicans in the state legislature have been targeted by right wingers because they broke with the party in the final vote on the state budget.
This trend of Repubs turning against those in their club who try to behave bipartisanly is vicious. They're not giving them funds and speaking out against them. Not sure how they think they are going to win more voters that way.
Em~ the Repugs and FundieRighties are really starting to creep me out~ all the silly sheeple are feeding at the trough of their bullsh** as if it were reality ~ =(
What is the link for your group GutterGirls? I'd like to check it out.
We have seen who the moderate Republicans will back if it comes to a showdown.
