Did you check the candy sales? Time to stock up. WalMart had the usual 50% off, and a big selection of unsold items. Then found a local grocery store dumping goblin goodies at 80% off.
I looked, but only got a few things. I bought Brach's gourmet flavored candy corn- Caramel Apple & Caramel flavors, to use for Thanksgiving. I have a few recipes that call for candy corn decorations on cookies, so these will be a colorful treat. I also bought a bag of 40 small baggies of pretzels, great for lunches, for $2.50, and a bag filled with baggies of flavored, shaped marshmallows- 18 for $1. Both will be lunch box treats.
I was hoping to find candy for stockings & our advent calendars, but all of it that our store had left was highly Halloween themed, or still way too expensive ($7 bags of candy for $3.50 is still more than I want to pay).
I found a HUGE bowl of FREE Trick-or-treat candy on my kitchen counter when I got up this morning. Promptly suggested sorting: things to keep, things to give to dad, things to give to local childs' charity. I ran screaming from all that extra padding around my middle! ;-) Gone are the days when carbs didn't stick to me. :-(
