Well, this year we waited too long to get our pumpkins, so we ended up driving all over the place yesterday (Saturday) on what we referred to as "The Great Pumpkin Hunt". (Note to self for next year (and for others to learn from my mistake): do not wait so long!) We finally found some pumpkins at K-Mart and bought three - two to carve and one to cook (Mom's dinner in a pumpkin is coming up tomorrow!). Here are a few photos of the kids as we carved our pumpkins.
Haley posing as we "gut" one pumpkin and get ready to cut the top off the other.

Parker posing for the very brief moment in time that he actually helped with the pumpkin. "Ewww, this is gross! I'm not doing this anymore."

A look of surprise from Haley and a slight smirk from Parker.

And now for the finished products. Hubby carved the Scooby Doo pumpkin.

I carved the "Jack" pumpkin. This one won the pumpkin carving contest at our church tonight.

Of course we roasted pumpkin seeds after carving (you guys know me!). No photos of that, but they're pretty tasty as usual.
Now, on to the costumes!
This year we went pretty cheap and convinced the kids to wear the $5 costumes I found at Old Navy last October. Parker was going to go as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. He found the costume at a local thrift store for like two bucks. However, he left the soft foamy shell out in the living room floor one day when we went shopping and the cats had a field day "playing" with it while we were gone. Needless to say it definitely wasn't in any shape to wear.
Haley in her cat costume. I painted the cat face on her (fixed that one eyebrow after I took these photos).

Parker in his skunk costume. On one side of the butt of the costume there is a red heart that says "Lil Stinker". Parker won the costume contest this year for the little kids.

Hubby decided to go as a Fazoli's employee. He was going to go as a WVU fan (all decked out in WVU gear), but they played a miserable losing game yesterday so he wasn't too thrilled with them. Why do we have all this Fazoli's stuff you ask? I used to work there in college.

My costume, which I found on sale at K-Mart, was a Renaissance Princess. I even found a Renaissance wig! I won the costume contest for the adults.

So, another Hardway Halloween is gone. Wonder what next year will bring? For now, I've got to go get some more candy while the kids are asleep! ; )

Thanks for all the photos. Looks like a great Halloween for you guys.
We carved our pumpkin 2 weeks ahead of time and they all rotted before Halloween!!
Well, they are jealous, the poor fools, because this post is a ten all the way.
Not that Victoria cares anyway silly old troll with nothing better to do.
HA HA HA HA
The kids do look adorable though. I posted Angela's photo in her dalmation costume, and I didn't get a shot of Pher...neither did my neighbor. She checked her camera for me also.
