Purges are not a sign of either a tolerate party or a healthy one. Like the Dems infighting over Lieberman it portrays a party as more worried about purity than encompassing people with the same general principles even if they diverge on some issues.

Hi Charles ... diverging on some issues is fine. But, she is hardly even close to being in agreement with Repubs (rather with what repubs profess to believe) on most of the more important issues. She is truly one of the great examples of RINO. (as facts have since proven out)

;-> I think of it more as if she was a mole who got activated; be a 'repub' until (was the trigger the Conservative candidate, the sure loss, the unexpected spotlight on that election? we'll never know) then step down and back the dem.

She still got 5% of the vote which shows that some GOPers were not bright enough to realize she wasn't running anymore. That 5% was more than Owens margin of victory too. Again the GOP shoots itself in the foot.

Sue, Mmmm..... when I first read your comment it didn't really feel like she'd actually meant to do the right thing even though she made it sound that way. And now, now that she has endorsed the Dem candidate it reveals her true heart in the matter.

Lee, when she had not endorsed anyone I was willing to ive her the benefit of the doubt. With that doubt remove, she has shown her true colors and I hope that keeps her out of office forever.

The title to this article is right. Not all Republicans are Conservative and not All Conservatives are Republican. The Republica party has an infestation of Neoconservatives which is far afield from a Conservative. Most Conservatives are Independant and neither party will win an election without Independant votes. We outnumber both with our votes.

Right on,Col.! Although right now I am nominally a Republican, my party has strayed so far away from its conservative roots (especially here in Oregon),that I am seriously considering changing my affiliation in time for the 2012 election. I am really disappointed.-Norman

Conservatives will decide the next two elections. Neither party can win without the conservative vote. We NEED to put up our own candidates and take back Congress and the Presidency
