When will the birthers take their meds?
No one of normal intelligence or sanity expected a different outcome, but the birthers present a strange stew of paranoid delusions.
Persons with paranoid delusions are likely to obsess about the revelatory moment or the magical revelation that will cause everyone to share their delusion.
Anyone who has ever provided clincal treatment to delusional patients has encountered this obsessive rumination about magical confirmation: if only I could have my day in court, if only the map could be found, if only the illuminati could be revealed, if only the aliens would appear in daylight hours, if only my magical powers had been witnessed...
Courts in foruteen jurisdictions have now tossed these suits based on allegations without a shred of evidence.
Desperate Birthers had high hopes that Orange County, California might prove more hospitable to their delusions.
The suit was enthusiastically watched by the bat-belfried birthers; the lead attorney, former dentist Orly Taitz, is considered the "savior" of the birther movement.
As normal citizens would expect, Judge David O Carter tossed the suit. In this case, the judge reasoned that the courts lacked evidence of electoral irregularities (where they could offer judicial remedies) and had no jurisdiction to overturn a popular vote. (The United States Supreme Court has no such scruples).

Federal judge throws out lawsuit challenging Obama presidency
The story from UPI Has more detail about the previous case tossed from the federal courts in Georgia.
I appreciate the good work that UPI did in reminding readers that the Taitz lawsuit (joined by 40 plaintiffs representing the usual fringes of society and sanity) offered no evidence to support the main claim that the President did not meet the Constitutional requirements for the presidency.
UPI also noted that the courts in Georgia have fined Taitz $20,000 two weeks ago for continuing to file frivolous suits without merit.
The court found that the plaintiffs were, " ...using the justice system to pursue political rhetoric and insults."
As with sufferers from any mental illness, one can sympathize with the pain and anguish that the fearful and delusional person suffers.
But, one does not dignify the symptoms of psychiatric disorders with standing in court.
Medication management of paranoid processes is much improved than it was even fifteen years ago.
Hey Birthers, take your meds.

that has a glorious ring on this day
I seldom engage in verbal "games".
It's really like going to court to prove or not prove the existence of Santa Claus if you really think about it.
It is, indeed, Brian - which the courts in Georgia noted in almost the same terms.
The courts cannot hear cases without evidence; the birthers have none.
Plus horror of all horrors he isnt worried that the insurance companies profits may go down.
This is the source of much of the paranoid fear, Lori.
Obama, an articulate and well-educated bi-racial man, is a walking rebuke to redneck and racist America - where the GOP still thrives.
No bills passed that would benefit one single average American and no black men in their white house.
When all the horrors fail to come to pass, the irrational fear that fuels the delusion will abate.
I believe that some of them are, Sam.
A delusion is a fixed false idea that has no logical consistency but creates an emotional (often unconscious) consistency for the person.
I think the roots are, as you note, related to profound racism, feelings of powerlessness, compensation for deep feelings of inferiority, and fear related to interpersonal status and power.
Ans. A community organizer is some one that organizes the community to send the likes of McCain and Palin back to their community.
Surely, you have encountered the "super-patriotic" loser -whose fragile ego is maintained by a desperate identification with "We're number one".
Most of them have left the GOP, Ruth.
Republican Party membership is now less than it was in November of 2008.
And also, if you don't know already, I have come up with my favorite solution so far to the mystery of what those two men in your picture are up to. I'd love to hear what you think.
But, when you scroll through the comments on some of the Birther sites - there are delusional people there.
Regardless of how easy it is to make fun of, the movement is scary because real people take it seriously. Some aberrations like being a Celine Dion fan are harmless. The birther stuff isn't.
This is perfect, Nippy - no need to say more.
I love this witty observation.
Really, I know several are crazy, but can we get a new tune?
The Republican party has tons of money behind it. So how on earth can the "birthers" think for even one second that if legally the Republicans could have prevented President Obama from running, winning, and taking the Oath of office, they would have done just that. Stopped it!
My point is that the birther ranting is not a subject for discussion or argument - it is not a rational process, but an psycho-dynamic one.
