Aw Pam, you're so right! He does need to stay on his medication for his own self preservation! I know there are many days I just hate having to take all those pills I have to put in me, but if I don't I know I will get real sick or be in terrible pain and or depression! I have said a prayer for you and your son Pam!!
btw...do you like JD Robb?

Perhaps you could put it to him that he has to take the meds to be seizure free. He has to be seizure free for a certain length of time to regain his driving privileges. In my state that time frame is six months. That may motivate him.

I have gotten so good at nagging him too. I just want him to lead a normal life and I know he can do that on medication. I have seizures and I have taken meds since 15 years old.

Wow, Pam, I have no idea what to tell you, but I do agree with j r above. Just keep making sure he takes the meds and try to get him to understand why it's so important that he do so. Surely he doesn't want to have more seizures! Will he be able to drive again once he's been on the meds for a while? I hope he doesn't have anymore! I'll bet that's a terror to have to live through for you as his mother. Scary.

What bothers me the most Victoria, is I blame myself. I have had seizures since I was 15 and have been on meds since then myself. I am afraid not to take my meds. When he talks about it, I just feel for him because I know how I felt as a young person.

I am sorry you are having to deal with this. I have to keep trying to explain to my 8 year old why she has to take her meds. She doesn't have seizures without hers but she can't function normally. It is hard trying to get your kids to do what they need for their own good when they don't want to. I feel for you.

I missed this until today, Pam. I hope he is okay and I think RHWG is right in that young people think they're invincible. I think this is important enough for you to keep stressing even if it is nagging. Is there someway you can help him remember...I think I've seen small keychains at CVS that will hold a couple of pills and it was labeled "before lunch." No one would have to know what he's taking, but it would be a reminder for him.

Come to think of it, I just found a pill holder while cleaning that is small and maybe I could give it to him to take with him. I miss CVS, we don't have them around here.
