Television Movies Who Rates Them And How?

I just Got finished viewing a movie with Dezel Washington (one of my many favorites) that I had never heard of or seen before. John Q A story about a man desperate to save his dying son who takes hostages in a hospital to get his son a new heart.

I'm still crying.

My question is who rates the movies and tv shows and how. They only gave this movie two stars. I believe it had more coming to it.

What do they look at in rateing a movie? Acting,story line or what?

Could anyone please shed some light on this for me?

I've always wondered this myself. As someone who has reviewed movies and television shows for a few years now, it all does seem to come down to someone's opinion. Doing what I do, I'll go to a movie that just comes out, usually the first available morning showing the day it is released, and I've learned how to pick out the critic. Usually sitting in the last row of the front section, in his fifties to sixties with a notepad and pen writing away. They usually don't even stay for the whole movie. It is usually just based on the opinion of the critic though. As for the movie you mentioned, very good movie.

I've often wondered that myself. There are some movies which receive a high rating and I thought they were awful. And others that received a low rating that I thought they were great.

Not a clue. I also ask myself who makes the comericals.....dumb and no sence half the time. I guess the people who rate them, are the people making them.
