The work on this page was created for my friend Ann James. Her husband left this world one year ago. He is missed.
Echoes
©2009 Robert Burnham / for Ann James
I still hear your echo
Your song within my heart
A year ago the Lord called you
But still we’re not apart
I see you in the smiles
Of friends who come to call
I still feel you here besides me
Standing handsome and so tall
I know the sun will shine again
When I join you on God’s shore
Our souls will be entwined again
And our echoes joined forevermore
TIMEPIECE
©2009 Robert Burnham / for Ann James
It’s been an entire year now
Since death parted our ways
But you’re still my living timepiece
Softly marking all my days
I miss you much, my dearest husband
At times the days seem so very long
But then I feel you within my heart
And I still hear our lover’s song
Time will keep moving me forward
Until at last for me it is no more
And there you’ll be, my eternal timepiece
Waiting for me on that golden shore

Robert, in regard to your poems, the connection between the two pieces is baffling. It is almost as though they are one, or one a very close echo of the other.
A surreal element pervades through the writing; the otherworldly-ness and sentimental yearning. Your characters voices seem to be from two separate sources yet the close tie makes for an enmeshed puzzle.
Heart mending effort shared Robert. The Surreal Circus
There's no enmeshed puzzle (who do you think I am, Kushal? lol)
it was very nice
