Hi, everyone! I’m doing another Bzz campaign on BzzAgent.com, and this campaign is for the new Breeze litter system from Purina Tidy Cats. I received my new litter box from BzzAgent on 10/23/09 and immediately set it up for my cat to start the transition from his Littermaid automated box to the Breeze. I followed the instructions provided in the Breeze informational brochure and put the Breeze right next to the Littermaid box. The box was simple to set up, and I like how the scoop hangs on the side of the box for easy access and convenience. My cat, Scout, sniffed at the foreign box but chose to bypass it until I blocked access to the Littermaid box on 10/27/09. I also removed the side walls from the Breeze box to see if this made a difference. Scout has used an enclosed litter box in the past, so I did not think the side walls would bother him, but apparently they did because he would not enter the box until I removed the walls. He was upset when I blocked him from the Littermaid box and waited all day to take care of business until he finally got desperate enough to check out the Breeze box. He is used to scoopable, clumping litter and did not seem to know what to think of the pellets. I heard him scratching around in the box and found evidence after he left that he had urinated in the box. I could not smell any odor but could see that the pad was damp in one corner. Scout always urinates in one spot in his other litter box, and he seems to be doing the same with the Breeze. I am glad that the drawer can be rotated 180 degrees without touching the pad so I do not have to replace the entire pad early due to overuse in one spot. So far, Scout refuses to defecate in the Breeze box, so I cannot evaluate how well the box works for solid waste yet.
There are pros and cons that I can see so far with the Breeze box. I like the odor control technology so far, even though Scout has not used the box for a full week yet. The pellets are indeed dust free and anti-tracking, but the pellets do fall through the small holes in the bottom of the box and get on the pad. Scout likes to dig and does throw the pellets out of the box, but the pellets are not nearly as messy as scoopable clumping litter. I do not like the fact that the Breeze box must be maintained daily because I cannot go out of town for the weekend without my cat like I can with the automated Littermaid box. The Littermaid also has waste bins that contain the waste and are disposed of weekly, and I like the bins better than the cat pads. I also wish that both the Littermaid and the Breeze were enclosed so that my cat throws less litter out of the box and onto the floor.
For all of you who have cats, I would love to hear your opinion of the Breeze box if you have tried it and how you think it compares to other litter systems you have tried. You can find out more about the Breeze at www.breezeforcats.com. Thank you for reading my review.
