Ruth Dent lived in Galloway, a small town is southwest Missouri (now, within Springfield, Missouri), and she loved to hear about exciting things elsewhere in the world.
In November of 1908, her friend was in Portland, Oregon - where the snow was falling fast on the mountaintops.
Addressing Ruth as, Hello Kid", the friend reported being okay and excited about taking in all the sights.
The postcard contains a photograph of Oaks Park, an amusement park on the very edge of the Willamette River.Â
Perhaps Ruth's friend had strolled the plank promenade pictured on the postcard.
I am all ok and taking in the sights.
There is plenty of snow on these mountains.
So I'll close, Good-bye.
Hoping to see you soon.
