Strange Creatures

Strange creatures or modern mythology - are creatures emerging from genetic engineering labs?  Fusion of hybrid human/animal cells is taking place.  A cow’s egg is cut open by a laser, DNA is removed and human cells are injected into the egg.  Given electric shock, an embryo starts growing. 

Results are unpredictable and it seems that the environment plays a key factor in the development.  So, are they throwing these things into the environment to see what happens?

The ancient ancestors engaged in genetic modification and history keeps repeating itself.

This is October, the time for breast cancer awareness, swine flu and, last but not least, Halloween.  Trick or treat.

Not surprising if there are scientists doing experiments like this. But I hope most of it is science fiction! Remember the 80' version of The Fly? I think there was a scene where a man became half man/half dog, but neither was quite developed. Instead, they became a horrific, monsterous creature-- imprisoned... it was horrific. Let's hope that is only in the movies. It's just too much to bear...

I think that was in The Fly... he was a scientist who accidentally got into the machine that mixed up the fly with Jeff Goldblum. It might be another movie, though. It was a long time ago and I was traumatized!

I missed "The Fly" but I know that much of the space technology in science fiction movies depict realities.

I saw both movies. The Jeff Goldbloom movie was the remake.

If any of the products of this research get into the environment it wouldn't take much for the cells to grow. What I found to be astounding about the clip was that the fisherman ate the creature they found.

Some of them will get loose. it's inevitable. Those African bees weren't supposed to get loose either. Now we have killer bees all over.

My research dug up stuff more frightening than this, but so far I have hesitated to post it since it might appear to be fear-mungering.

What some are doing in the area of xenotransplantation is frightening. Glad you posted this.

It seems to me that they could use human cells to grow specific organs such as kidneys and other organs instead of combining human and animal.

Years ago I read that in the field of dentistry they discovered that it is possible to grow new teeth. I don't see this happening.

1- human and animal DNA should NOT be genetically fused together
2- I won't lie...some of those pics were straight up creep-tastic
3- that was a hugungous snake in the river (arial shot?)

Yuck, its creepy, God knows what else they are doing. I don't think people should be playing God and messing with nature, its just not right. Its one thing to use stem cells to help somebody who is gravely ill or can't walk, another to create living creatures.

What was Jeff Goldblum's line in "Jurassic Park"? "Just because scientists know how to do something doesn't mean they should"? It's food for thought, though some of the photos you've posted I think I've seen before (As in National Geographic shots of creatures that have been discovered living in remote regions and have nothing to do with recombinant DNA), but they certainly make you think.
