Trick or Treat is over!

Our Trick or Treat is done until next year!  Many of you asked why ours is celebrated early instead of on October 31st.  It started many years ago when my children were very small.  People objected when it fell on a Sunday night or a Wednesday night because of church services.  The police didn't like it when it was on a Friday or Saturday night because of all the mischief that occured.  The township and borough officals all got together and decided that Thursday night was a good night so they started having it the last Thursday in October.  It has been that way for at least 30 years.

My two nephews, who lived with me for two years, came to Trick or Treat here tonight.  This will probably be their last year to go out.  One was a "victim" and one was a "mobster"!

They went out in our neighborhood for about a half-hour!  This is my youngest nephew's "haul" of candy!

We ended up having our usual dozen Trick or Treaters!  I love seeing the kids in their costumes.  We had several princesses, a pirate, a pumpkin, two chess pieces, a ninja and several that I could not identify! :)

It is a good idea. Here, high school kids go trick-or-treating. But, there certainly aren't many in our neighborhood. We're lucky to get two groups. The advantage/disadvantage of living on a steep hillside!

Fun photos! We had a Halloween party tonight for Cub Scouts, one tomorrow in the pre-school and then trick or treating on Saturday. I can't wait for some candy!

Everyone around here does it on the actual day, regardless of when it falls. It would seem weird otherwise.

I wish all we had was a dozen trick or treaters. Yikes, we must have 300 easily. Our town has a curfew of 7 so the kids come out between 5 and 7. Sometimes some teens come around a bit later. The police are constantly watching though. They go round and round through out development.

Our area is fairly religious and yet they never have a problem with it being on a Sunday or a Wednesday. Whatever day it is on, we have all the trick or treaters.

I love their costumes. Very creative.

Great costumes and look at all that chocolate! YUM! I didn't pass out candy this year because I'm dog-sitting my BIL's barky 'lil beasties and I don't think my sanity(what's left of it anyway) would have survived all the extra barking!
