Get the 3M plastic to cover the windows. You put it on the windows and then blow dry it to make it fit tightly. You can get it at any hardware store.

they sell them for both inside and out - i prefer inside. good luck

I would go with inside. It will keep your house warm. Depending on how bad your windows are, you might want to get both.

I use a dehumidifier in the fall and winter because of condensation on the windows.

I live in a house that was built in 1953, and I think the windows have been in the house since then.

A house I lived in about 10 years ago was built in 1911. Still had the original windows. But, they did not get the condensation like the windows in my cottage.

My drapes move if it's really windy and the windows are closed. I don't get condensation, but I do get a nice cool breeze in the winter.

3M Plastic, that is what my Brother just did to get ready for Winter.
He says it works Great.

Next spring you will have to look for rot. The rotted areas will need replacing. Then you will want to check the seals and remove and reseal areas that cracking. ADAP has an excellent outdoor sealant. from there you can continue to the window treatments. Dehumidifyers work.

In the old house we had the heavy plastic that was cut to fit the windows and held in place with magnetic tape.
