Getting ready for Trick or Treat tonight!

Our neighborhood has Trick or Treat tonight from 6pm to 8pm!  I opened the door this morning and looked at the yard......what a mess!

Leaves everywhere!  So, my husband and son and I spent about three hours cleaning up the leaves and putting them in the street.  Our township comes and gathers up the leaves every Friday morning.  They take them and turn them into compost and then we can go get free compost if we want some.

The leaves are now in the street waiting for pick-up in the morning.  Next I got out my black cat luminary bags that I set out for Trick or Treat night!

We are all ready for the Trick or Treaters to arrive!

When do they Trick or Treat where you live?

I actually have to admit that I have stopped handing out candy. The first year we had soooo many kids that it wasn't fun because I didn't even get a chance to see all the cute costumes before the next large group came by. I love seeing the costumes, but don't like when I feel rushed and mobbed by children.

I think it looks great with all those leaves. You are celebrating early? Is that a tradition? I never have had anyone come to my home in 7 years.

All the townships and local boroughs get together and decide what night will be Trick or Treat night......it's rarely on Oct. 31.

I love your luminaries. They are so cute. We have Trick or Treating on Halloween. I never heard of a town doing i ton a different day. Have fun!!!!! Wear your mask. LOL ; )

I loved the photos, especially the black cat luminaries.

I'm going to have to go sweep acorns from my sidewalk. I think I'm the only one on the block who has to sweep the sidewalk before the trick or treaters come by.

We always celebrate with parties early but no one goes house to house until the 31st.

It is always on the 31st here unless it falls on a Sunday then it is "celebrated" on the 30th.

Very cool that your town will pick up and compost the leaves. Our town will do Christmas trees and use the chips in our city parks to save money but they don't do anything about leaves.

The mall's here have trick or treating with special priced kids meals also.

I am not certain if we will get kids this year, in the past we've had none, but this year is on a Saturday..so who knows

We always celebrate on the 31st. I haven't had any trick or treaters at my house since I moved there 3 years ago amd I've always had candy at the ready. I always buy stuff I don't like, so I won't be tempted to eat the leftovers, I just bring them to work. So this year, I have a hot date on Halloween night! We aren't going to do anything spooky, just dinner and a movie, so I hope I don't get any ghosties and goblins this year. I'd hate to miss them.

They're having a party at the clubhouse Saturday night and we're supposed to bring candy for the kids.

I hope you have a great time Sandra, those bags are so cute.

We have never had any kids come by at the old house, but it might have changed since we are in a new neighborhood. I doubt it though....I have no desire to go trick or treating door to door around here though. Sky is still not feeling well, but I hope we will all be well enough to go to the Halloween party in town on Saturday. It is outdoors so hopefully the weather will be good.

Wow, tons of leaves! We get lazy and just leave the leaves in the yard until winter!!!!!! In the past, for Halloween, we've had as many as 130 kids (we used to give out the cans of pop!).......word got around, I guess, that we had the "best" treats so got bombarded with kids......there have even been buses dropping kids off from different parts of the city, so we got not only our kids here but others as well! In the past few years, however, there have been very few kids.......our Beggar's Night is tomorrow night but we may not give out candy, since I'm still sick.

Someone is all ready. We have to buy a cone to put near our hole in our driveway so that no one falls into it on Saturday night. The driveway people told us we have to have that whole section re-done - they have to remove the whole thing, re-do the pebbley part underneath, top it again and then top it 2 more times. We can't do that until the Summer so it will have to be like this for months. We need to put a cone or something around it so no one hurts themselves falling into the hole.

it's cool your town does that! in my town they start trick or treating at about 4:30 and it goes to about 7:30...
