Today marks the 43rd anniversary of the National Organization of Women, dedicated to securing equal rights and opportunities for the female gender.
However, men and their attitudes about female roles in relationships and marriage haven't kept pace. Could this be one of the reasons there are so many single women in the United States?
Many men hold fast to the 1950s ideal of a submissive apron-wearing woman that "knows her role" as explained in this timely article on modern relationships. With women filing 75% of the divorces in the U.S., could this conflict of needs be a factor? If a woman wants to eventually marry and have a family, must she sacrifice her personal desires for self-fulfillment to meet a man's expectations of the perfect submissive wife?

So I think it's time that one stops submitting to the other, and people walk as equals, no one leads, no one follows.
As Albert Camus said
Don't Walk behind me I may not lead
Don't walk infront of me I may not follow
Walk beside me, and be my friend.
I worked this quote into my wedding vows, when my husband and I got married.
