Questions on job creation.

Did you know that besides those costly road signs that some states (Ohio, I know) have erected per requirements showing that they received funding, there are also requirements for state and local governments to post what jobs were created in newspapers. When they did that here in Cincinnati, I had to laugh (or I would have cried). First, the number was not huge. Maybe 400 total? Secondly, most of them were temporary jobs that would last only as long as construction. Or, in some cases, they were merely summer intern jobs.

Since many of these new jobs created were part of the "shovel ready" projects, those jobs would have been created anyway. So they have nothing to report.

NH was the same, as a matter of fact, they laid off even more after the temporary jobs were over. So they hired about 100 and then laid off 400.

All I can say is, "2012 where are you?"

Other than saving the fat cat companies "too big to fail" I can't see that the billions have done much. In fact, GMAC is now back asking for it's "3rd" handout. Most jobs in this country come from small businesses, and I don't think they have been helped much....?

It should have had stipulations on the $$$ to have the work done here, jobs needed by the people HERE.

I hate to live in the past, but, I seem to recall that Reagan was successful in creating jobs by doing something... hmmmm... what could it have been? Was it lowering taxes? Taxes, taxes, I know that had something to do with it. Oh, now I remember. He cut taxes and the Fed raked in more money because more people were working and paying taxes. Yea, that's it.

Now, now... taxes are good, taxes lead to free stuff!

While I can not speak for policy wonks or their associated bean counters, I have offered a real solution that would put the entire nation to work, even extending worldwide.
Unfortunately, it seems my emails all get deposited in the junk mail folder.

I wish my representatives, up to and including the president would just give me the time of day. If they did, just once I could resolve many of the problems we face as a nation.

My plan is based upon the private sector investing in the future and, not upon the Federal or State gov. except for perhaps providing seed money.
Until then, I guess anything I could contribute is mere opinion and conjecture.

Richard I would love to hear more... I can tell my neighbor when he gets up here. He has been tied up in DC since September. Since the caregivers showed up today, I suspect he will be here this weekend.

I've been watching the U- scales, and this is not good news. The Employment rate is dropping still at a steady rate, and there is no real let up.
We are needing more jobs nation wide, and quick. Right now we are going down hill, and what we are hearing about the Economic growth is a facade, made by reducing everything the companies can, including and especially labor.

I know Dan, I worry about the people in the tent cities that the news just glosses over. Holiday help is not happening in several areas of the country. People need shelter, food and heat. Most would be happy to work 2 or more jobs if it meant taking care of their family...

Creating a few tens of thousands of jobs at the cost of billions of dollars is fools work. It is sad the media isn't highlighting it.

Here is how I see it. Bush made decisions on faulty info and tried to spin it to get people on board. Now Obama is doing the same. On these things that affect peoples' lives... would a little research and truth hurt? This *sell it at all costs* is irksome and people eventually start to realize it.

This "trickle down theory" or maybe I should say "stimulus plan" still isn't helping the businss man who is waiting for the public to spend the stimulus money they didn't receive and are afraid to spend what they do have anyway. One of my neighbors was evicted two weeks ago. He was is a young man about 35 or 40 with three school age children who just couldn't keep up with the house payments. The sheriff served the papers and they were gone two weeks later. They only lived on the property about two years. It is a small home with a small area for horses and he had a couple of horses. I did not know them but I always saw him out playing ball with the kids and working with the horses. It's really getting scary when you watch your neighbors having to move back in with mom and dad in order to survive. Some people have family that they can join up with for group survival but some people only have themselves.

There will be millions of families losing their homes. I have no answers, just prayers...
