If you dont think it is all right to tax the rich(who already pay 40% of the tax in this country) to pay for entitlements,you might be a racist.
If you think it is not okay to be billions of dollars in debt,you might be a racist.
If you think it is unconstitutional to force anyone to buy anything,you might be a racist.
If you are worried cap and tax might raise your utility bills sky high and dont want it passed,you might be a racist.
If you dont like the fact that the president has surrounded himself with socialists,communists and those that admire communists,and czars who dont have to answer to anyone,you might be a racist.
If you disagree with any of Obamas policies on the economy,the huge job losses,the wasteful spending and hideous debt,the worry about how we will pay for more government run programs when the ones we have(social security and medicare)are going broke you are called a racist,sometimes astroturf too. I believe this is done to shut people up.Noone wants to be called or branded a racist so they are afraid to speak up and try to do something about what is going on.With the horrible economic meltdown we have going on and more and more people losing their jobs every week,do we really notice or care what color the presidents skin is? There are more important issues and I wish the name calling would stop.

Percentage of income is an accurate gauge, while percentage of total is bogus math. Always has been, and always will be.
Taxation is extortion no matter what percentage it is. There is a better way.

Taxation, Lydia, is not extortion. Taxation is the price of civilization. All societies have taxed throughout all of history in every nation and race. There is no getting around it. There are things that societies must do in order to function, that are done for no one in particular but for everyone in general, that must be paid for collectively, and taxes are the way to pay for them.
And as with everything else: you get what you pay for. Main problem with the USA today (why your schools suffer, why your roads are falling apart, why your servicemen and women return from overseas to third rate medical care and homelessness, why 45 million have no health care) is that you guys don't pay enough taxes.

Bush, and basically because he wanted to lavish tax cuts on his richest friends and start illegal wars so he could throw billions in actual cash to persons unknown in Iraq, but think that Obama's expenditures forced on him by the biggest economic collapse in eight decades, left to him by Bush, are bordering on traitorous...
If you want to demonize Obama for making it mandatory to carry health insurance (when it is already mandatory to carry car insurance if you are going to drive)...
If you are alarmed by the president surrounding himself with political ideologues but weren't concerned when the entire last administration was made up of members of the Project for the New American Century and highly placed oil industry executives...

It's interesting that after having been away from Gather for a few months, I've noticed that the rhetoric hasn't changed.
When the legislature has been disbanded and businesses are required by law to add Political Officers to their payroll and give those officers deference in ALL business matters, then, and only then, will I entertain the notion that this country is being made socialist or communist.
I've got NO sympathy for complainers who earn more than $100,000 per year.
