Brookgreen Gardens - Fall Festival Scarecrow Building Contest (Photo Essay)

On October 24 and 25, Brookgreen Gardens had their annual Fall Festival. I went for a few hours both days because there was no extra charge for this event and I'm a member of the gardens.

The festival also had a pumpkin patch, pumpkin painting, live entertainment, food tents and artisan vendors.

There were probably over 100 different scarecrows between the two days. This post includes the best of the bunch.

You were allowed to take your creations home with you at the end of the day. I thought that was pretty neat for those who could fit these guys in their vehicles.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous for the whole weekend with mild temps in the upper 70s.  Perfect outdoor weather!

Some people were very creative with their scarecrows.

I thought this Marry Poppins one was nicely done.

These are all great. You are having great weather in SC too. We are having nasty weather today. It is a little chilly and rainy here. My hubby says it is going to warm up again over the weekend though. I am ready.

We are talking about meeting my nephew and his wife in SC next year for a get together. They were planning on coming to OH for Christmas but they cannot get the time off, so I thought that would be a great half way point. Maybe do some camping. I would love to meet up with you and Victoria, Gloria and Phyllis though while there. I would love that.

Creative scarecrows. I like how they used pots and milk jugs for heads along with spanish moss for hair.

I feel like I've been on a great field trip. Thanks for taking the time to load the photos and share them. They're really great...especially for those of us who mostly go to work and home.
