Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has been suspended without pay for Week 10 (check your fantasy football rosters!) for a homophobic slur in his Twitter account directed at his coach shortly after the Chiefs' 37-7 drubbing at the hands of the San Diego Chargers.
The Chiefs are now 1-6 on the year.
Johnson initially tweeted to slack his coach's lack of experience by comparing the coach to Johnson's father, who played briefly in the NFL. His classy Twitter rants were tweeted as follows:
• “my father got more creditentials than most of these pro coaches. … google my father!!!!!!!”
• “My father played for the coach from “rememeber the titans”. Our coach played golf. My father played for redskins briefley. Our coach. Nuthn”
These messages prompted an exchange between Johnson and another Twitter user who referenced Johnson's recent problems with the law, including an incident in which Johnson supposedly spit into the drink of a woman at a nightclub. Johnson responded by calling the user a "Christopher street boy". Christopher Street is a street in New York's West Village known as the center of New York's gay rights movement of the 1970's.
The message posted in Johnson’s account containing the homophobic slur read:
• “think bout a clever diss then that wit ur faggy pic. Christopher street boy. Is what us east coast cats call u.”
The final message of the night on Johnson’s account read:
• “Make me regret it. Lmao. U don’t stop my checks. Lmao. So “tweet” away.”
Larry Johnson is a classless human being, even by athlete standards. He's been trying to force his way out of Kansas City for two years, and this is just the latest in a line of incidents that show that he's total scum. His suspension will cost him $147,000 in lost pay, but I hope he loses way more than that when his next contract comes around.
